Terms of use

These terms of use apply to bowlingguide.nz. By using the site, you accept them. If you don’t agree with the terms, please don’t use the site.

About the site

bowlingguide.nz is an independent information site about lawn bowls and ten-pin bowling in New Zealand. It is represented by the website’s owner.

We publish guides to venues, clubs, rules and the organisations that run each sport. We don’t take bookings, sell tickets or memberships, or handle payments. The site is not connected to, or run on behalf of, any bowling centre, club or governing body.

Information only, not advice

Everything on the site is general information. It is not professional advice of any kind, and it is not a recommendation to choose one venue, club or product over another.

Our rules guides explain how each game is played. They are not official rulings. For a binding interpretation of the laws of a sport, refer to the relevant governing body.

Accuracy and limitation of liability

We work to keep the site accurate and up to date, and we check facts against primary sources. Even so, we can’t guarantee that every detail is correct, complete or current.

Venue and club details change often. Before you travel, book or pay, confirm the following directly with the venue or club:

  • opening hours and public holiday hours
  • prices, packages and membership fees
  • booking requirements and availability
  • age restrictions and accessibility arrangements

You use the information on the site at your own risk and are responsible for your own decisions. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or inconvenience that results from relying on the site, from errors or omissions, or from the site being unavailable.

Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under New Zealand law that can’t be excluded.

Links to other websites

The site links to external websites, such as venues, clubs, governing bodies and reference sources. We provide these links so you can check details and find out more.

We don’t control those websites and are not responsible for their content, their accuracy or how they handle personal information. Each external site has its own terms and privacy policy.

Venues’ own rules

Bowling is a sport for all ages, and the site is written for a general audience.

Individual venues and clubs set their own conditions of entry. Some ten-pin bowling centres restrict entry to adults at certain times, for example later in the evening, and licensed venues must follow the law on the sale of alcohol. Those rules belong to the venue, and it is your responsibility to check them before you visit.

Intellectual property

The text, layout and original graphics on bowlingguide.nz belong to the website’s owner unless stated otherwise. The names and logos of venues, clubs and organisations belong to their respective owners.

Privacy and cookies

How we handle personal information is explained in our privacy policy. Our use of cookies is explained in our cookie policy, and our use of AI tools in our AI policy.

Changes to the terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always published on this page, with the date of the latest update at the top. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the updated terms.
